Oxford University Press
Oxford University Press (OUP) is a department of the University of Oxford, the world’s largest university press with the richest history. It furthers the university’s objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide.

In Hong Kong, OUP is a significant publisher of educational books, at all levels, and both in English and in Chinese. Courses for the teaching of the two languages in primary and secondary schools are widely used; and texts in the sciences and humanities also occupy dominant positions.
Oxford Path Centre
In 2011, Oxford University Press introduced Oxford Path, a professional English learning system designed for young children, and established Oxford Path Centre that offers a variety of activities as well as professional and comprehensive support to the Oxford Path members, such as parent workshops, parent-child parties and festive celebrations.
Our Philosophy and
Learning Approach
1. Making the most of the critical period for language learning
Early childhood is the critical period for language learning. At just 3 years old, a child' s brain will be about 80% the size of an adult brain and it keeps growing to about 90% by 5. Some authoritative researchers discovered that the growth of synapses peaks at 1, and that an enriching and systematic learning environment helps stimulate a child's intellectual and language development.

Learning-at-home
2. Learning at home is important for babies
As young children aged 0 to 2 stay at home most of the time, it is important to provide an ideal environment and time for them to read, play and learn at home so as to stimulate their brain development. An enriching English learning environment also helps them master English easily, develop logical thinking, nurture good reading habit and foster self-learning ability.

3. Enriching the home English learning environment
Dr. Richard Wong, Oxford Path's Consultant and Assistant Professor of the Department of Early Childhood Education at The Education University of Hong Kong, believes that a systematic English learning pack is indispensable to creating an enriching and effective English learning environment at home. Based on the leading research on early childhood development and English and mathematics education, our consultants and editorial team developed Oxford Path that embodies Oxford's four pedagogies, helping children learn the language in the most effective way.

Multi-sensory-Approach
4. Multi-sensory Approach
Addressing the need of multi-sensory exploration and learning during early childhood, Oxford Path strengthens the learning ability of children through a variety of multi-sensory learning resources and materials:

Visual stimulation: Storybooks with attractive illustrations and surprising flaps, graphic themed posters, flash cards and funny animations help draw children's attention and facilitate their cognitive and memory development.

Auditory stimulation: With the Smart Pen, children can listen to the audio stories recorded by native English speakers, engaging sound effects and melodic nursery rhymes that help raise their phonological awareness, strengthen their listening skills and improve their concentration level.

Tactile-kinesthetic stimulation: Storybooks and learning kits made of different materials, interesting rhythms and fun-filled parent-child games can increase children's interest in learning and strengthen their associative ability.

Taste and smell stimulation: The Parent's Guides suggest various learning and game ideas to encourage children to explore the world through taste and smell.

5. Thematic Reading Approach
The thematic stories of Oxford Path introduce children to practical English expressions and early mathematics concepts through real-life scenarios, helping them master the skills and knowledge needed in daily life. The stories also help strengthen their emotion management and social skills, cultivate their curiosity towards the world, build positive values, foster good virtues and develop empathy.

Spiral-Learning-Approach
6. Spiral Learning Approach
Many studies found that children need to hear a new word up to 12 times before they can memorize it. Recognizing the need for repetitive learning and memorizing, Oxford Path helps children revisit what they have learnt using the spiral learning approach. The interesting stories and diversified learning materials will help children acquire English language learning skills and early mathematics concepts.

7. Phonics Approach
Phonics learning helps children understand the relationship between sounds and characters, and enhances their reading, word recognition and spelling skills, preparing them for reading and learning on their own. The specially designed phonics learning resources and the Smart Pen with reading and recording functions from Oxford Path also enable them to master basic phonics skills with ease.
